The six-in-one medtech and advanced manufacturing event welcomed thousands of C-suite executives, engineers and industry professionals to the 2021 edition. In a challenging year, IM Engineering East, the largest medtech and advanced manufacturing event on the East Coast, hosted by Informa Markets – Engineering, concluded a successful three-day exhibition and conference held December 7-9 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.
Consisting of renowned event brands EastPack, Automation Technology Expo (ATX), Design & Manufacturing (D&M) East, Plastec East, and East quality fair, the event celebrated the return to live events and was well attended by C-suite executives, senior-level engineers and industry professionals seeking the much-needed connection and education.

While attendance figures were lower than the years before the pandemic, this year’s more than 4,000 registered attendees represented highly sought-after companies including Abbott, B Braun Medical, Beckton Dickinson, Bristol Myers Squibb, Caterpillar, Colgate Palmolive, DuPont, Emerson, Estee Lauder , IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Konica Minolta, L’Oreal, Mars International, Medtronic, Stryker, among others. Nearly a quarter of those in attendance were at executive level and 35 percent had technical titles; combined, the majority of participants were those in decision-making roles.
“The advanced manufacturing and medtech sectors have experienced setbacks that haven’t been around for quite some time – the need for industry connection and peer-to-peer learning was evident at this year’s event and we couldn’t be prouder to have a environment that enables the industry to progress,” said Steve Everly, Group Event Director, IM Engineering East. “Change and progress are born from overcoming such hardships, and it was refreshing to see the companies and thought leaders at the forefront of this dynamic industry engage with content and use the event as a launch pad to discover new partners and ink deals. find as we go into the new year.”

The 2021 edition, with 220 suppliers on the show floor, featured world-renowned and highly sought-after manufacturers leading change in medtech, automation, plastics, packaging, design engineering and quality areas. Notable suppliers seeking buyers at this year’s event include Asahi, Intecc, B Braun Medical, Caplugs, Delta Mod Tech, DeRoyal, Diversified Printing Techniques, Foamtec International, Invotec, IPG, Photonics, Nikon, Prent Thermoforming, Qosina, Sintx Technologies , Steris, Tessy, Wildren HR and Zeiss.

IM Engineering East attendees enjoyed the launch of CannPack East, a conference dedicated to fostering the thriving cannabis packaging market, and experiential offerings such as a New York City Beer Tour, Networking Zone, career opportunities and more.
After three days of uniting engineers, designers and decision-makers where they have solved problems and advanced the manufacturing industry, IM Engineering East is transitioning to a biennial cadence and will return to the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City on June 13 – 15, 2023.
In the meantime, the event organizers recently announced the launch of IM Engineering South, a multi-day event designed to serve as the Southeast US region’s leading advanced manufacturing and processing event. The event, scheduled for June 14-16, 2022, at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, was chosen strategically due to the density of manufacturing operations in the marketplace and local investment by manufacturers in aerospace, automotive, metal, forest products, logistics and plastics sectors that drive economic growth for the entire region.
